About Stacey Bennett

THE STORY BEHIND THE ART - australian portrait & chalk mural artist (brisbane/jimboomba)

Hi, I’m Stacey!

I'm an Australian portrait and chalk mural artist based in Jimboomba, Queensland, working across Brisbane and the South-East region. I’m a self-taught artist specialising in expressive pastel portraiture and large-scale street chalk activations that bring public spaces to life.

After navigating the beautiful chaos of raising a family, I’ve returned to my creative practice with a mission to create with purpose, celebrate community, and honour the story behind every piece.

In 2026, Stacey was selected to appear on Portrait Artist of the Year Australia, Season 2, airing 16 August at 7.30pm on ABC and ABC iview - a milestone that celebrates her commitment to realism, storytelling, and the evolving journey of her portrait practice.

Permanent public mural by Queensland artist Stacey Bennett, designed specifically for the client’s space at Jimboomba Central.

My work explores connection, whether that is through portraiture, immersive chalk art or my public artworks. I'm drawn to realism for its ability to communicate emotion, humanity and shared experience in an immediate way.  Working across large-scale street art I like to create works that invite interaction, curiosity and emotional response. I'm particularly interested in how public art can transform everyday spaces into moments of wonder and connection to place.  My practice combines technical realism with storytelling, atmosphere and audience engagement. "
